Janel Freih, 61, of Bowman, ND, passed away on October 25, 2019 at the Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck. Memorial services for Janel will be Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at 11:00 am, at the Bowman Lutheran Church, Bowman, ND, with Pastor Charles Johnson officiating.

Janel Lorge was born on September 10, 1958, the daughter of Gene and Joanne (Bender) Lorge at the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson, ND.  She attended Sand Creek School, Amidon School and New England School until moving to Bowman her junior year where she then attended and graduated from Bowman High School in 1976 with honors.   After high school, Janel then attended Bismarck State College for one year. Janel met Terry Freih in 1976 where they date for 4 ½ years before being united in marriage on November 29, 1980 in Bowman, ND where Janel married her best friend. Even though they were apart when Terry worked out of town, she was always there on the weekends. Janel worked various jobs around Bowman including; Genes Restaurant, Jenny’s Drive inn, Barber Transportation, Bore Specialists, Weather Modification, Curt’s Sheet Metal and Jim’s Repair. . One thing for sure was that Janel wasn’t afraid to work as she always had a job and sometimes two. Janel loved helping others and had a special place in her heart for the School of Promise in Bowman. She and Terry every year would make their special baked beans for the fundraiser for the school. She loved to garden and would make her famous salsa every years with the produce. She loved her days making chili with the “world famous ” Waterhole team and enjoying the event.

Janel will be remembered for her big blue eyes and recognizable laugh. If she was around, you knew it. She was very low maintenance and never asked for much. She was a proud Slope County girl and a fantastic cook. Janel was old school. She loved her mom dearly and made sure to go and visit her once or twice a day. After many years, she finally got the home of dreams and loved being there. She and Terry were always together. It wasn’t just Janel or just Terry, it was always Janel and Terry. They attended car shows with their 1977 Pontiac Trans Am and especially enjoyed jumping on the Trike and going for a ride to get away for the pressures of life. She and Terry were big supporters for the Bottoms Up Rally in Marmarth, ND, and were active in ABATE for many years. She also enjoyed riding along on hunting trips with Terry and their friends. She enjoyed going camping, fishing and finding antiques. She will be deeply missed by all her many friends.

Janel is survived by her husband of nearly 39 years Terry, mother Joanne, brothers; Pat (Denise) Lorge, Mike (Carolynn) Lorge and Dale Lorge, sister, Amy (Kevin ) Ole, sister-in-law, LeeAnn Freih and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Gene Lorge and her in-laws, Roger and Betty Freih.

Memorials are suggested to the givers preference.
