“We are excited that our new store on Highway 12 East in Bowman is open and ready to serve area residents with value and convenience,” said a Dollar General public relations representative. “Our customers are at the center of all that we do and meeting customers’ needs is Dollar General’s top priority when choosing store locations.”
Specifically, when looking for new locations, Dollar General looks to small towns. According to the representative, approximately seventy percent of Dollar General stores are located in areas with populations of 20,000 or less.
“The company looks for places where we can offer customers an easy and convenient shopping choice as we generally serve customers within a three to five mile radius, or 10-minute drive,” said the representative. “We also take competitive factors, traffic patterns and community concerns into consideration.”
To celebrate their grand opening, the business offered small gift bags containing $10 gift cards to the first 50 customers.
According to the representative, the new building will employ 6-10 employees. After the recent shutdown of the Shopko, mayor Lyn James said she welcomes the addition of a new Dollar Store in Bowman.
“I think it will be great for the community,” she said. “Following the closing of Shopko, we welcome new business into town.”
