Cross Country travels south

The Bowman County Cross Country team traveled south to Belle Fourche this week to do battle with some of Western South Dakota’s best runners. The bulldogs fared very well as the Boys were crowned team champions and the girls placing 2nd.

On the boys team, Brian Miller paced not only the bulldogs, but the entire field. Miller finished as the individual champion in a time of 17:29.47. Not far behind Miller was senior Camden Wokal who finished in 7thpalce in a time of 18:41.30. The remainder of the bulldogs packed together behind Wokal as Caleb Sarsland, and Taylor Wanner finished in 10th and 11th respectively. The bulldogs rounded out their scoring with Sam Rodakowski in 24th and Austin Wanner in 31st. The bulldogs defeated Custer by a score of 31 to 57.
In the JV Division, Jaxson Hansey paced the field as he was claimed individual champion in a time of 20:14. Behind Hansey, Karsen Kulseth finished in 8th, while Eli Heyen placed 17th. The scoring was culminated by a pack of Dawgs as Ben Knopp finished in 25ht, Brady Hendrickson in 26th, Nicholas Rodakowski in 35th, Kalorada Eagon in 46th and Levi Kelly in 53rd. The JV boys placed 2nd, 4 points behind Custer, and 4 points ahead of Sturgis.
In the JH Boys division, Luke Fischer paced the bulldogs in 37th place with a time of 15:13, and Dylan Kalstrom rounded out the day in 57th place.

On the girls side Jaci Fischer led the Lady Dawgs finishing in 9th with a time of 22:06.03. Alexius Miller followed closely behind finishing in 12th place (22:34.38). From then on the Bulldogs packed it together as Kenley Bowman placed 21st, Paysha Rex 27th, and Adyson Gerbig debuted her 5k career in 29th place. The Dawgs finished 2nd as a team behind meet champion Custer.
In the JV girls division, Julie Sarsland started her 5k career with a blistering time of 23:54.86, bringing home 3rd place overall. From there on back, the bulldogs were consistent and methodical as Alexia Reisenauer finished in 12th, Andrea Rodakowski in 16th, McKayleeKalstron in 21st and AllieRae Stotts in 25th. The JV girls also finished runner-up to Custer SD.
In the JH girls race Ryanne Kelly finished in 109th place out of 158 runners in a person best time of 17:27.79.
The bulldogs will travel to Dickinson on Friday, Sept 20th to compete in the Becki Wells Invitational at Heart River Golf Course starting at 10:00 am.
