Adele passed away Aug. 7,2019 at the age of 100, having celebrated that memorable day with family, church and lake friends from all over the country.
She was born in Rhame, ND to Hans and Frieda (Lien) Ahlness July 12, 2019. After marrying Russel Kittleson, whom she met while teaching in Reader, they moved to Detroit, MI where she raised three children and taught until 1984. Russ died in 1986, and she later married Arnold Sjoberg, who died in 1998. Family, church and bridge formed the core of her social life, and a summer home on Walloon Lake near Petoskey gave the family over 50 years of memories.
Her three children survive Adele: Terry and Katy Kittleson (Dallas, TX,) Diane and Jon Nichols (Livonia, MI,) and Russel and Kathy Kittleson (Canton, MI), 7 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces and 2 nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Jean Stebinger (CT) in 2015 her brother Dr. Paul Ahlness (Bowman, ND) in1995 and 2 nephews.
A Memorial Service was held July 10,2019 at the Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Petoskey, MI.
