Keith Carl Ferguson, 77 of Normal Illinois passed away Monday, June 17th at Advocate BroMenn Hospital.
His service will be held at 11 AM, June 29th at the Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomington, IL with visitation preceding. Rev. Sara Isbell, presiding. Keith was born July 17, 1941 near Bowman, ND to Carl and Evelyn (Van Meter) Ferguson. He was a graduate of Jamestown College (ND), Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary (Evanston, IL), and McCormick Theological Seminary (Chicago). He married Barbara Pratt on June 17th 1966 in Delaware, OH. She survives. Also surviving: Son- David (Laura) Ferguson with grandchildren Ella and Xavier of Indiana PA; Daughter- Amy (Logan) Blewett of Paducah KY; Sister- Reva (Wayne) Friez of Sioux Falls, SD; and 6 nieces and nephews.
Ferguson served as a United Methodist Minster for 55 years. He began his ministry in North Dakota in Hillsboro, before serving in the following towns in Illinois: Streator, Donovan, Iroquois, Decatur, Kankakee, Tremont, Chillicothe, and most recently as the pastor of visitation at Wesley UMC, Bloomington.
In addition to his service in the ministry, he served as a volunteer fire fighter, ambulance driver, and as a hospital and scout camp Chaplin. He also worked with CROP hunger walks, Walk to Emmaus, and numerous international mission trips. He was fond of camping, and will be remembered for his kind and loving presence, and the way that he elevated common human decency in daily interactions.
