Marmarth School students, Ashton Battest, grade 8 and Trevin Lecoe, grade 5 represented Slope County at the North Dakota State Spelling Bee in Bismarck on March 18 at the Ramkota Hotel and Conference Center.
There were 97 students who completed representing 49 of the 53 counties. The students completed a written test in the morning session. The 25 students with the top scores on the written advanced to the oral spelldown in the afternoon session.
Annaliese Rauschenberger, representing Ward County, won the competition. She will represent North Dakota at the Scripps National Spelling Bee May 26 to June 1 near Washington, D.C.
