According to Associate Superintendent Steve Brannan, Heckaman is from the New Rockford area. Heckaman also has two Master’s Degrees and is working toward his doctorate.

Brannan said Heckaman has experience at Mott-Reagent Schools and has even taught at Bismarck State College. Heckaman has spent the last few years as principal in Beach.

“He’s a very even-tempered person,” Brannan said. “I think he’s very sincere. He actually brought his wife and three small children to Bowman to see the community and tour the schools. His desire was to find the best school to educate his three children and of course, all of the children in the school district.”

Brannan said Heckaman’s interview was a positive one and although he doesn’t have any experience as a superintendent, he has no question Heckaman will be successful.

“I have no doubt that he is going to do just fine,” Brannan said. “He models academic success and the priority that is given to an academic program.”
