The Bowman County Beach wrestlers secured themselves a spot at the State Dual Wrestling Tournament this past weekend by placing 2nd in the Region 4 Dual Tournament.
The first dual against Hettinger/Scranton was the most critical as with this dual tournament teams have the opportunity to wrestle for a true second place if the two teams have not previously met in the day. The Bowman County Beach wrestlers had to win this first dual to secure a chance at making the State Dual Tournament. The dual against Hettinger started out at 113# and the teams held a close score until the mid-weights and Bowman County Beach pulled ahead to finish the dual with a 40-29 win.
Hettinger/Scranton dropped into the other bracket and wrestled against Beulah winning 40-29 and then wrestled Killdeer for 3rd place which they also won 49-25.
Bowman County Beach wrestled in the champion dual against New Salem. Bowman County Beach had won the previous dual against New Salem earlier in the year, but fell short this time to New Salem losing the dual 34-45. Regional Individuals are up next for the wrestlers which will be held in Hettinger.
