Donna Marie Henderson, 87, of Bowman, ND passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at the Southwest Healthcare Services Long Term Care in Bowman, North Dakota.

Paul Eberle will celebrate the Mass with burial to follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Scranton, ND. There will be a Rosary and Vigil Service for Donna on Sunday, December 16th at the St. Charles Catholic Church beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Donna and her twin brother, Donald, were born April 23, 1931 in Saint Paul, MN to John and Hazel (Jolivette) Ross.   Donna was raised and attended schools in Saint Paul, graduating as Salutatorian from Washington High School in 1950. She worked at an insurance agency in Saint Paul for a few years. Donna married Robert Henderson on September 27, 1952 and they moved to the family farm north of Scranton, ND. After that, she always considered herself a true North Dakotan.

Donna and Bob raised a family of nine children and celebrated over 40 years of marriage before Bob passed away in 1993. Donna was extremely proud of each of her kids – she was their biggest fan and was supportive of their activities. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Scranton and was involved in training altar boys, teaching catechism, as well as the Ladies Guild.

Donna was a passionate sports fan, cheering on her Minnesota Twins as well as all local high school sports teams. She was known as “the Stat lady” since she carefully recorded statistics as she sat in the stands watching the game, all while listening to the radio broadcast.

Donna was a big supporter of the local ARC and was a Board Member for many years. During that time, she also served as Treasurer of the Cedar Chest. Donna worked as a Nurses’ Aid Helper at the Sunset Home for more than 18 years. She truly loved her job and considered the residents “family” and the staff “friends”. So, when her health began to fail and she became a resident herself in 2014, she said it was like coming home.

Donna is survived by her sister, Eleanor Bourgoin; her children, Donald (Stormy), John (Wanda), LaVonne (Jack Kulseth), Joseph, daughter-in-law Karla, Kathleen (Dennis Welch), Keith (Mary), Kevin, and Julie (Tom Hartney); eighteen grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Hazel Ross, husband Robert Henderson, son Dallas Henderson, granddaughter Lillie Welch, twin brother Donald Ross, and sister Anita Lehman.

Krebsbach and Kulseth Funeral Services of Bowman in charge of the arrangements.
