Yesterday’s Farmers had the raffle ticket drawing for their annual tractor or cash prize on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018, at the grounds on the west edge of Bowman. This is the 17th year of the tractor or cash raffle. The winner this year had their choice of a 1940 farmall H, a 1952 John Deere Model 40 tractor, a 1953 Massey Harris Model 33 tractor or $1,000 cash.
Jamie Ludens from Spearfish, South Dakota, was this year’s winner. Ludens bought the raffle tickets at the Sturgis, South Dakota threshing show.
Yesterday’s Farmers, which was started in 1981, is a group of approximately 40 members. The primary purpose of the group is to preserve the history of farming from the early days until present. Their collection of restored tractors and machinery gives the upcoming generation a chance to see how farming used to be done. The group has their annual thrashing bee and other demonstrations of antique equipment each year the week after Labor Day in September. Yesterday’s farmers thanks all who purchased tickets and for their support.
