Helena Maria Schmidt Boxeth was born on March 16, 1926 in Adams County to Benedick and Ingle Schmidt. Her father died when she was six weeks old leaving her, her brothers Max and Laurence and sister, Rose without a father.

Several years later, her mother Ingle married John Deavy. The family became bigger including brothers Pasquallo “Junior”, and sisters Vita and Isabel. They were a busy family with the older children helping the neighbors when needed. Helena helped out her aunts quite a bit and her sister Rose worked at the hospital.

Later, Helena attended the Christy School of Cosmetology, graduated and returned to Bowman to work. She also held a license from the Illinois School of Electrolysis.

At an “Easter Monday” dance, Helena met the love of her life, Walter Boxeth and was married two years later. They lived on the Boxeth farm which they purchased several years later and where they raised their five daughters, Bonita, Linda, twins Jacquelyn and Gwendolyn and Tamara. The girls were very helpful in every way with all the necessary farm work that needed to be done.

Helena is survived by her five daughters, Bonita, Linda, Jacquelyn, Gwendolyn and Tamara; seven grandchildren, Kimberly (Eric)Popinga; Wade (Tracy) Trentlage, Wendy (Adrian) Chamberlain, Kevin Chamberlain, Dawn (Colby) Braun, Tanya (Leigh) Tessier and Cody Hooper; nine great grandchildren, Mckensie, Ryleigh and Sydney Popinga, Ashanta and Azareiah Alverez, Madison and Regan Braun, Jordan and Chase Tessier; and one great-great-grandchild Mia. She is also survived by her two sisters Isabel Howe and Vita Kok.

Helena was preceded in death by her loving husband Walter, her parents Benedick and Ingle Schmidt, her brothers Max and Laurence Schmidt, and Pasquallo “Junior” Deavy and her sister Rose Heidt.
