Steven J. Fischer, 59, of Rapid City, SD, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2018 at the Rapid City Regional Medical Center.
Mass of Christian Burial for Steven will be on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Bowman. Fr. Paul Eberle will celebrate the Mass with burial to follow in the Tuttle Cemetery, Rhame, ND. There will be Rosary prayed for Steven on Wednesday beginning at 10:30 at the St. Charles Catholic Church. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 12-9 at the Krebsbach and Kulseth Funeral Home Chapel.
Steven J. Fischer was born in Bowman, ND, on April 2, 1959 the son of Richard and Doris (Jones) Fischer. He was raised on the ranch south of Rhame with his sisters; Alice and Cindy and his brother James. He loved animals especially dogs. Steven attended school in Bowman until the age of 18. After graduation he moved to Rapid City, SD, where he became a resident of Black Hills Works. He has lived and worked there since 1975. The staff at Black Hills Works became his second family away from home. They were very special to him and he truly appreciated each and every one of them. He will be remembered for his work ethic and his love and dedication for his job. Steve was very active in the Special Olympics. In 2010, he carried the torch to Mount Rushmore. He was very proud of the medals he won. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He also participated in Peoples First and the Lion Club. He had a passion for the Rapid City Rush Hockey Team. He had a front row seat every season. He knew the players and they knew him. He collected memorabilia and was proud of the autographed jerseys he received. He loved his Rush and also the Denver Broncos. He was able to take trips to Florida and Texas to visit family. He was able to experience Disney World. He will be remembered for his joyful laugh, his kind heart and his love of life. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him. He was truly a gift from God. We, as his family have learned many things from him.
Grateful to have shared his life are; Alice (Thad) Magyar, Cindy (Steve) Vitter, Denise Fischer, Chris (Kirsten) Fischer, Jason (Kayla) Fischer, several nieces, nephews, cousins and his family at Black Hills Works. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Doris, brother, James Fischer and his nephew Tyler Fischer.
