Junior high wrestlers open with victory

The Bowman County Junior High Wrestling Team started out the wrestling season Nov. 16 with a successful tournament at the Mandan Middle School.

Junior high wrestlers open with victory

The Bowman County Junior High Wrestling Team started out the wrestling season Nov. 16 with a successful tournament at the Mandan Middle School.

The Bowman wrestlers ended the day with 13 wins and 0 losses. Alex Madrigal started out the tournament with a pin in 1:54 against Drew Gieger (Horizon).

He then met up with Shaun King (Simile) which ended in a major decision 15-3. Alex’s last match was against Hunter Johnson (Bishop Ryan) where he pinned Hunter in 1:27. DJ Martian’s first match was against Britton Voegle (Mobridge) where DJ pinned Voegle in 1:54. DJ pinned his second opponent from Linton in :31. DJ’s last match was against a Dickinson wrestler where he won in a decision 4-0. Jacob Ruggles had a bye his first round. Second round Jacob pinned Isacc Turk (Jim Hill) in 1:54. Jacob’s final match was against Logan Keller (Simile) where Jacob pinned Keller in 1:31. Clay Mattern pinned Matthew Bergland (Dickinson) in 1:47 and then pinned Marcus Yeader(Whachter) in 1:46. Clay Mattern comes from Beach as a wrestler in the co-op that Bowman and Beach have for wrestling. Brian Anaya’s first match of the day he pinned Hunter Scanson(Horizon)in 3:49. Brian then wrestled Alex Larsen(Mandan) to win with a pin in 2:04. Brian’s last match was against Thomas Fkischaker(St.Marys) where he won by pin in 2:53.
