The Bowman County wrestling squad opened the 2012-13 season with a new look and a solid showing at the Eagle Invitational Tournament in Sidney Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.

Joining the Bulldogs this year on the mats is Beach, the first year of a coop between the two schools.
By joining forces with Beach, the Bulldogs were able to compete in the dual tournament, and placed seventh out of 12 teams with a record of 2-2.
Against Williston, the Bulldogs fell 57-15 and also suffered a defeat against Beulah, 48-35. However, Bowman County secured wins against Miles City, 42-36, and Dickinson/Wolf Point, 48-41.
Individually, the Bulldogs had seven grapplers place. They were:
• Matt Carlson, Bowman County, 8th grade, third place at 119 pounds;
• Troy Steele, Beach, sophomore, fourth at 145;
• Joe Charlston, Beach, freshman, fourth at 275;
• Tyler Longland, Bowman County, freshman, fifth at 98;
• Eric Bucholz, Bowman County, senior, fifth at 135;
• Matt Hilderbrant, Beach, 8th grade, sixth at 98; and
• Mac Stuber, Bowman County, freshman, sixth at 275.
Bowman County also had a pair of junior varsity wrestlers place. They were Kamrin Madrigal, a Bowman County eighth-grader who placed second at 125, and Curtis Summers, an eighth-grader from Beach, who placed third at 145.
A total of 14 teams were represented in the singles tournament, including Baker, Beulah/Hazen, Broadus, Circle, Dickinson junior varsity, Forsyth, Glendive, Killdeer, Miles City, Poplar, Sidney, Williston and Wolf Point.
For the individual tournament, Bowman County placed 10th with a team score of 41 points.
Next on the schedule for the Bulldogs is the Bowman Rotary Tournament set for Saturday, Dec. 8. It is one of only two home events for the Bowman County. The second home event is just three days later on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at the Bowman County Multiple, which includes Killdeer, Standing Rock and Baker.
