Bulls, broncs, horses and acting dogs?

Watching a professional rodeo like Bowman’s on Sept. 14-15 is unlike watching any rodeo that comes to town for a number of reasons, one of them being the ‘specialty acts.’
Highlighting Bowman’s usual famous slate of World Champion and Wrangler National Finals (WNFR) contestants this year will be a dog act earning fame on the TV show, America’s Got Talent.
The Coppertown Clown, Bert Davis and his Mutley Crew were veteran rodeo entertainers before the TV show catapulted their fame. Davis and his wife Frannie have always had a soft spot for dogs, but these 10 pooches are special as they’ve all been rescued from pounds across the country.
“We are excited to add The Mutley Crew to our production,” said rodeo Chairman Mark Ballard. “The dogs should be a big hit with our crowd, especially the kids.”
Besides The Mutley Crew, a number of other noteworthy rodeo stars will be at Bowman’s rodeo including PRCA award winning stock contractor, J Bar J Rodeo, Miss Rodeo North Dakota, Sadie Wardner and Wrangler National Finals Rodeo stars Lisa Lockhart, Brittany Fleck, Jesse Bail, Chad Ferley, Chet Johnson, Jesse Kruse and Bobby Welch.
Rodeo performances run nightly Friday and Saturday at the Bowman All Seasons Indoor Arena at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the door or advanced tickets can be purchased at the Bowman Area Chamber of Commerce or Frontier Travel Center.
The Bowman County Fairboard will be hosting a band on Saturday night in the 4-Seasons Pavilion with more information coming closer to the date. Event organizers hope to bring Davis and his Mutley Crew to area schools during rodeo week. For more information call, 701-523-5880.
