William Brengle

William C. “Bill” Brengle passed away peacefully at Rapid City Regional Hospital on September 25, 2012.

Funeral Services for Bill were held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at the Ladner Lutheran Church. Pastor Susan Villmow Fox officiated with burial following in the Ladner Cemetery. William Carl Brengle was born on September 23, 1935 in Camp Crook, SD, the son of Myron and Edna (Cornell) Brengle. He attended the Cameron School for 8 years and Buffalo High School for 2 years. He graduated from SD School of Agriculture in 1954. Bill went to SD State in Brookings for one quarter before enlisting in the United States Army in 1955. Bill was stationed in Maintz, Germany for over a year and was honorably discharged in April of 1957. He returned home to the ranch where he worked with his parents. Bill married Florence Gunderson on May 9, 1959. After their marriage, they made their home in Rapid City where Bill attended the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. Bill graduated with honors from the School of Mines in 1963 where he majored in Civil Engineering. Bill worked for Brady Engineering in Spearfish, SD, until July 1967 when he and Florence purchased a ranch in Harding County and resided there until his death. Bill enjoyed life on the ranch and spent countless hours improving the livestock herd while maintaining the ranch. He continued to do land surveying and used the same precision when he built fences, his many ditches, developing springs and field strips. He enjoyed hunting arrowheads and instilled that love into his kids and grandkids. He enjoyed leather working and repairing saddles. In the later years, his main concern was the care and welfare of his loving wife, Florence.

Bill is survived by his wife, Florence, children, Monica (Lyle) Parfrey, Than Brengle, Carla (LeRoy) Hansen, special friend and caregiver, Ann Marie Brienza, his grandchildren, Tucker, Shayde, Tate Brengle, Kirsti, Samuel, Charlene, Jonathan, Justin and Shelbi Hansen and Dalton and Colton Pacetti, brothers and sisters, Bonnie (Vern) Vigoren, Rick (Judy) Brengle, Steve (Cathy) Brengle, Dennis (Becky) Brengle, sisters-in-law, Helen Brengle and Peggy Brengle, aunt, Willma Negaard and Uncle Buck (Betty) Brengle. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Tyrel Brengle, sisters, Delores Coffield and Sharon Njos, brothers, Gary Brengle and Ron Brengle Krebsbach/Kulseth Funeral Home of Bowman in charge of the arrangements.
