Robert “Bob” James Schaff, 76, of Columbus, Texas passed away on August 20, 2012 in Houston, Texas. He was born on November 10, 1935 to Frank and Matilda (Hirsch) Schaff in Bowman, ND. Bob was retired and had worked as an auto mechanic and on commercial air conditioner maintenance. On August 5, 1972 he married Jerry Nan Branham. He enjoyed yard work, fishing and being with his family.
Bob is survived by his wife, Jerry Nan Schaff of Columbus, TX; daughters, Tracye Leenders of Tomball, TX, Kim Nawara and husband Weldon of Columbus, TX, Leeann Anderson and husband Terry of Bowman, ND, Jere Shawn Newton and husband Don of Willis, TX, Jill Quentinilla of Bowman, ND, Nicole Merta and husband Carl of Sugar Land, TX, and Robin Allen and husband Mike of Ennis, TX; sons, Bobby Schaff and wife LaVonne of Bowman, ND, Danny Schaff and wife Shelly of Bowman, ND, and Shane Smith and wife Dawn of Columbus, TX; five sisters, Laura Carter, Mary Jean Collins, Bernie Dukeart, Joann Schoch and Eleanor Kilwein all of North Dakota; two brothers, Bill Schaff and Donald Schaff both of North Dakota; 25 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, Frank Schaff and Matilda Hirsch Schaff, two grandchildren, Sheldon Perkins and Cyler Howard, one sister Isabelle Peters, and one brother Raymond Schaff.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 25, 2012 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 4:00 pm at the Henneke Funeral Home with Rev. Melvin Harris officiating.
Burial will take place in the Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery in Columbus. Pallbearers are Shane Smith II, Dante Alfaro, Keigan Newton, Craig Schaff, Christopher Herron and Ryan Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are Weldon Nawara, Shane Smith, Carl Merta, Don Newton and Mike Allen.
