Scranton American Legion is raising funds for Veteran’s Memorial

Scranton American Legion, Harry W Lindberg Post 151, has a fund raiser in progress to raise money to update their existing Veteran’s Memorial. The Legion would like to raise enough money to add a bronze statue of some kind to the memorial site. Roxanne Evans, Adjutant, has contacted a local artist to design a plan to incorporate a soldier’s cross or some other type of bronze statue into the existing veteran’s memorial. The blue print should be drawn up in January and the hope is to be able to have everything completed and in place before Memorial Day 2018. Scranton American Legion’s long term goal involves updates to their Veteran’s Memorial every 5-10 years, or as funds are available.
Our country’s patriotism has a tendency to peak and decline over the years in response to many factors like foreign affairs and during times of war. Scranton American Legion’s goal is to keep patriotism growing in the hearts of our young and old by offering a peaceful and visual area in their community to come and reflect. They already have fantastic support of the veterans from the community and surrounding area but feel that having a life-size soldier cross or a life-size soldier in battle will awaken a sense of understanding and pride on a whole new level. The motto “All gave some, but some gave all” becomes a real touchable experience through viewing of the statue(s).

For further questions or if you would like to donate to the project, you can contact Jason Anderson, Commander, or Roxanne Evans, Adjutant.
