Yesterday’s Farmers Raffle Winner

Allan T. Brandvold with a 1951 John Deere Model M tractor.

Yesterday’s Farmers had the raffle ticket drawing for their annual tractor or cash prize on Saturday Nov. 11, 2017 at the grounds on the west edge of Bowman. This is the 16th year of the tractor or cash raffle. The winner this year had their choice of a 1940 Farmall H, a 1951 John Deere Model M tractor, a 1953 Massey Harris Model 33 tractor or $1000.00 cash. Allan T. Brandvold from Maddock, ND was the winner this year. Allan chose to take the 1951 John Deere Model M tractor. Allan bought the raffle tickets at the Central North Dakota Steam Threshers Reunion at New Rockford, ND in mid September. Allan grew up on a farm near Hesper, ND. Allan has worked for the North Dakota DOT out of Devils Lake District for the last 7 years and for Benson County 15 years prior. He also has a construction business.
Yesterday’s Farmers, which was started in 1981, is a group of about 40 members. The primary purpose of the group is to preserve the history of farming from the early days until present. Their collection of restored tractors and machinery gives the upcoming generations a chance to see how farming used to be done. The group has their annual threshing bee and other demonstrations of antique equipment each year the weekend after Labor Day in September. We thank all who purchased tickets to support Yesterday’s Farmers.
