Bulldog XC Pulls Double Duty

A busy week of racing has concluded, marking the end of the regular season for the cross country team. With the regular season in the rear view mirror, the bulldogs are looking forward to the West Region XC Championships to be held at Sweetwater Golf Course in Bowman on Saturday, Oct. 14 with a start time of 12:00 p.m.

•Becki Wells Invite

A beautiful Friday morning welcomed the XC team to Heart River Golf Course, where the bulldogs battled against teams from western ND and eastern MT. Once again the bulldogs were led by Andrew Miller in 15th place, but close on his heels was Brian Miller in 18th. The two top 20 performers propelled the boys team to a fifth place team finish behind Williston, Dickinson, Mandan, and Minot High Schools. The Millers were followed up by Camden Wokal (27th), Samuel Rodakowski (40th), and Ethan Fischer (48th).

The Lady Bulldogs held on to a sixth place team finish behind Alexius Miller’s 18th place individual finish. Other Bulldogs scorers included: Abigail Bartholomay (29th), Paysha Rex (44th), Vanessa Fischer (49th), and Meggie Fischer (59th). Placing top 20 in the Girls JV division was Becki Fuchs.

•Watford City Invite

The Battle of Class B part II took a major plot twist on Tuesday as the makeup date for the Fox Hills Invite saw temps in the 40s with skiffs of snow. Ironic because the meet was initially postpones due to temps in the upper 90s and smoky conditions.

The conditions did not deter the bulldogs as the boys team finished second as a team behind a trio of top 20 placers. Andrew Miller led the Dawgs with an eighth place finish, while Camden Wokal was close behind in 12th, and Brian Miller in 16th. Samuel Rodakowski (22nd) and Austin Wanner (24th) rounded out the scoring for the bulldogs. The Dawgs second place finish to New Town puts a wrap of a very successful regular season. The bulldogs only Class B team loss has come at the hands of the New Town Eagles. In the JV division Brady Hendrickson led the bulldogs with a 10th place finish.

The girls team continued to grow and find depth. A third place finish behind host Watford City and New Town, was led by Alexius Miller in sixth place, and Abigail Bartholomay in 13th. Rounding out the scoring for the bulldogs were Vanessa Fischer (24th), Paysha Rex (25th), and Meggie Fischer (34th).
