North Dakota one of six states selected to receive technical assistance on transportation program

The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) was selected by the Governors’ Institute on Community Design and Smart Growth America as one of six state transportation departments to receive technical training assistance integrating land use and multi-modal considerations for the development of North Dakota’s transportation system as part of the Accelerating Practical Solutions Program. “North Dakota seeks to enhance integrated decisions about transportation and land use that meet the needs of all roadway users, and support healthy, vibrant, and economically strong communities,” says Tom Sorel, NDDOT Director.

The NDDOT will bring together a limited number of staff from a variety of transportation partners for a technical training workshop. The NDDOT was selected through a competitive process with the intention of addressing the following:

•Balancing the needs of all roadways users in a variety of contexts

•Integrating transportation and land use decision-making

The six selected states were North Dakota, Delaware, Iowa, Louisiana, New Hampshire and Virginia.
