Donald Gene “Todd” Patton, 82, of Eagle Pass, Texas passed away peacefully on May 26, 2017. Born in Camp Crook, S.D. to Sherman Clay Patton and Theo McGee Patton McTavish, he lived many places over the course of his life.
Todd’s childhood was spent at the family ranch in Marmarth, N.D., riding horses, rolling cigarettes and pulling pranks with his best buddy and cousin, Roy Williams.
As an adult, Todd found his passion in entrepreneurship owning bars, gas stations and restaurants in New Mexico and Wyoming over a 40 year span. However, he was always recognizable by his cowboy hat and boots, a reminder of the ranch life.
Todd was a risk taker and loved a gamble –in business, at the blackjack table and in the stock market. He was never afraid of a hard day’s work, and he passed that work ethic along to his children.
Todd leaves his daughters, Donelle (Greg), Denise (Jimmy), Shawna (Dave) and Karra (Gianni); step-children- David (Diana), Debi, Lori (Mark), Luis (Brooke), Alex (Eric), 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by the mothers of his children, Rosalee Benallo and Julieta Porras.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, his sister, Margie, and his son, Clay.
Services will be held on Sept. 9, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche, S.D. with a celebration of life to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made memory of Donald Gene Patton, Carter County Museum, PO Box 445, Ekalaka, MT 59324, Attn: Saber.
